Anders Crumb Quilt Progress from Jo's Country Junction

I told you in my “What I’m working on” post that I needed to just stop and clean up my sewing room.  It wasn’t terrible but it definitely wasn’t what I wanted.  In the past, I’ve been able to shove things aside and sew with a mess there but this was about five projects worth […]

Green Crumb Quilt COMPLETE from Wedding Dress Blue

I am so pleased at the way this quilt turned out.

Crumb piecing was mostly new for me and I got braver and more creative as it went along, but the blocks seem to blend together pretty well.

THIS TUTORIAL helped with the tilted setting.

The quilt finishes at 55″ square.

Hands To Help, Quilty Hugs from Baby Boomer Quilting Bee

For my12th Year of participation in the Hands To Help Challenge, I have made the String Bean Quilt (above), from a March 2022 Quilt Along by Pat Sloan. I used Crumb Block Centers and a variety of oranges and creams.  The backing (below) was made from 10" squares - my favorite method.

Emily, with Aunt Em's Quilts is once again collecting for Quilty Hugs, an organization that gives quilts to chemo patients through hospitals and infusion labs.

Special Thanks to Mari with The Academic Quilter, who has stepped in as hostess this year, for the creator of Hands To Quilt ...

A Lot Going On from Wedding Dress Blue

So, not a lot of sewing. But a little binding. I want to finish the green crumb quilt by the end of the week.

With summer coming on it will be nice to spend hot afternoons in my cool basement room stitching up some fun.

Green Quilt Update–Finished Top from Wedding Dress Blue

The 25 blocks are now a top.

I used THIS TUTORIAL as a guide while I considered setting options. A tilted look fit the vibe of the quilt.

I also added a border.

And the top is finished. Quilting soon, I hope.

Green Update from Wedding Dress Blue

The green crumb quilt is moving along.

I have completed 25 blocks and am really pleased with how they look.

Given the inspiration, art murals created by our art teacher and kindergarten-grade 5 students at school, I decided on a low volume print for the setting and a “tilted” look.

Those are all coming together.

I hope to start assembly by this weekend.

That New Project: Green Growing from Wedding Dress Blue

A little while ago I shared pictures of a new idea.

Now I have a picture of progress.

I have never made crumb blocks before, but I am (mostly) enjoying the process. Getting the pieces to end up the “right” size isn’t as easy as it looks, but I am working along and learning as I go.

There are numerous tutorials out there, but it seems that it is most productive to just “give it a go” and learn while creating.

I’ll keep you posted…
